Wacken Open Air (WOA) 2023, once again, secured its place as the Mecca for metal music lovers from all corners of the globe. This year’s edition of the world’s largest heavy metal music festival exceeded expectations, boasting an incredible lineup, awe-inspiring stage setups, and an unparalleled atmosphere that only Wacken can deliver.

Venue & Attendance: Staying true to its roots, WOA 2023 took place in the small village of Wacken in Schleswig-Holstein, northern Germany. The festival sprawled across the expansive grounds, which were meticulously designed to cater to the approximately 80,000 attendees. The site was a mix of iconic stages, camping zones, and an array of food and merchandise stalls that catered to every metalhead’s desire.

Line-up Highlights: The 2023 lineup was a harmonious blend of classic legends and emerging stars. Headliners such as Iron Maidenwill perform unforgettable experiences. The beer garden is always a hotspot, serving the festival’s signature Wacken beer, while the food stalls dished out both local German delicacies and international cuisines. Vegan and vegetarian options were also plentiful, showing WOA’s commitment to inclusivity.

The ‘Metal Market’ was a haven for merchandise with everything from band tees to exclusive festival memorabilia. A new addition this year was the ‘Metal Art Gallery’, showcasing artwork inspired by heavy metal culture.
